Rediscovered Ivory-Billed Woodpecker

"The ivory-billed woodpecker has a rare chance at recovery, but no one is listening"- David Carruth

Everyone thought that ivory-billed woodpeckers were extinct, but in 2005, a video confirmed that they are still alive. People thought of it as the equivalent of finding Elvis alive! Can you imagine walking down the street and looking at Elvis? The whole world was stunned at this new rediscovery.

Ivory-billed woodpeckers make a unique double-knocking noise when they peck at trees, (hence the name woodpecker). People still don't know how many of these beautiful birds exist to this day and did you know that their bill isn't actually made of ivory but bone?
